Lakewood Elementary

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Lakewood Families,

We cannot believe we are wrapping up the 2024-2025 school year.  We have had a fantastic year and our students have grown tremendously.  We have had some wonderful highlights this year:

  • We have a second grade student advisory group that created a pride tag competition resulting in a new building wide pride tag.
  • Our attendance average was 94.6!  Next year we want to hit 95%!
  • We participated in several Spirit Weeks and Lakewood Elementary has SPIRIT!
  • We earned the State of Ohio's Silver PBIS award.
  • LES impacted the community by fundraising for our Veterans and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
  • We maintained our Purple Star designation that we have had for six years.
  • Our Veteran's luncheon was a huge success.
  • Our parents were fantastic with our Mom's in the Morning, Dad's at the Door student greeting program.
  • Our resource officers assisted our October Bully Prevention Campaign.
  • We adopted a new reading curriculum, and the staff and students loved the culminating theme activities.  We even got a special visitor, Paul Bunyon, AKA, Mr. Coffey.
  • Students got to experience some fun field trips such as our YMCA 1st grade Swimming program, and the Kindergarten Hebron visit to the Village of Hebron.
  • 2nd Grade designed amazing lego robotic projects.
  • 2nd graders also did a spring musical program.
  • We loved having our family parties during Fall, Winter and the Valentine's Celebrations.

We hope you have a great summer!  We are excited for what next year holds.

Mrs. Henry

Ohio Purple Star Logo

On April 15, 2025, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce selected Lakewood Elementary School as a Purple Star School for the Class of 2025. Ohio’s Purple Star Advisory Board established strict criteria that schools must meet to be considered for a Purple Star designation, and we are proud to announce that our school has successfully met these standards. We are committed to serving military-connected students and families. Ohio’s military-connected youth require support that considers their unique wellness and academic needs, especially while navigating school transitions. The Purple Star award signifies our school’s demonstrated commitment to serving these students and families.
