PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Lakewood Families,

It's hard to believe we are already at the halfway point of the school year! We have had a great start to the year and our new reading curriculum. Hopefully, your child has come home and shared all of the exciting topics they are learning about during the knowledge portion of reading.  

Please remember that attendance is critical in Pre-K through 2nd grade because of all the foundational skills we are learning. We love seeing our students' smiling faces each day. We have an attendance challenge between the grade levels, so keep up the good work coming to school! 

Each week a newsletter is sent home on FRIDAY. The newsletters have valuable information school-wide and at each grade level, so please make sure to check it out each week! We also post the newsletter on our Facebook page and the teacher should Dojo you the newsletter weekly.

We are looking forward to a wonderful second half of the year!

On April 15, 2025, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce selected Lakewood Elementary School as a Purple Star School for the Class of 2025. Ohio’s Purple Star Advisory Board established strict criteria that schools must meet to be considered for a Purple Star designation, and we are proud to announce that our school has successfully met these standards. We are committed to serving military-connected students and families. Ohio’s military-connected youth require support that considers their unique wellness and academic needs, especially while navigating school transitions. The Purple Star award signifies our school’s demonstrated commitment to serving these students and families.
