Hello Lakewood Schools Community,
This week we began another school year! I hope you all had a great summer and enjoyed some rest and relaxation before walking through our doors yesterday.
It has been a busy summer at our schools, filled with hard work by many people in order to prepare for our students return. Thanks to our custodians, cleaners and summer help – our buildings are looking great because of your dedication.
Many thanks also to our teachers and staff who supported our summer academies both in-person and remotely. I am sure their summer instruction will help our students get off to a good start this school year.
Additionally, this summer we have been involved in a few large facility improvement projects, including adding HVAC to the middle school, renovating our current LMS auditorium into classroom spaces, and adding a connecting corridor between Jackson A and the Annex building. These improvements will contribute to a more positive learning environment for our students.
As we start another year of school, I think it’s an opportune time to reflect on our mission statement…We are a community of learners inspiring each student to explore, grow, and achieve.
We have set very specific goals for this year to continue delivering on our mission, and we will be sharing more periodically in the coming weeks and months.
I am looking forward to 2022-2023 and the successes it will bring for our district, faculty and staff, and our students. Thank you, in advance, for your continued support.
It’s Lancer Time!
Sincerely,
Dr. Mark Gleichauf
Superintendent, Lakewood Local Schools
