March 1, 2022
Lakewood Team,
I cannot believe we started the month of March today. March opens with many exciting things happening across our schools. Good luck to our LHS juniors who are taking the ACT today and we celebrate Read Across America Week at Hebron. Additional well wishes to our Lakewood High girls’ bowling team competing in the state tournament this coming Saturday. It truly is Lancer Time!
I am reaching out today because the CDC and Licking County Health Department (LCHD) have updated guidance regarding the Community Level of COVID-19 and its impact on schools. The levels can be listed as Low, Medium, or High based on several metrics, and will be updated on a weekly basis. Since data show a decrease in positive cases, the current level in Licking County is Medium (and possibly trending toward Low), meaning there is no recommendation for masks in indoor environments, including schools.
What does this mean for us?
Masks will no longer be required on buses and other school transportation.
There are no other changes at the time as masks have been optional in our buildings and will remain optional. Staff members who feel most comfortable wearing a mask should continue to do so in our buildings and on our buses.
We will continue to monitor our cases closely and make any adjustments based on guidance provided by the LCHD. Thank you for your continued diligence and support of keeping our students and yourselves safe and healthy.
If you have any questions, please contact me, your building principal, or supervisor.
Have a great week. It’s Lancer Time!
