Greetings Lakewood Families,
As we see many districts around us return to remote learning or put mask mandates in place, I know it creates questions for you about what we may need to do at Lakewood. Like other districts, we are experiencing many student and staff absences due to COVID-19 and other illnesses that are common this time of year.
With staff absences, our two biggest challenges have been having enough bus drivers and classroom teachers. So far, we have been able to make adjustments using our existing staff and substitutes that have allowed us to continue learning in-person. This includes doubling up bus routes, teachers covering classes during their planning periods, combining classes, and more. We cannot thank our staff enough for the extraordinary efforts they are making to keep our kids in school.
We evaluate our staffing needs each day and, while we hope to stay in-person, we are prepared to use calamity days or move to remote learning on days when we do not have staff available to support our needs.
We continue to keep our health and safety protocols in place and ask that you keep your child home if they are sick.
Thank you for your continued commitment to keeping students and staff healthy and learning in-person.
If you have any questions, please contact me at [email protected] or call the District Office at 740-928-5878.
It's Lancer Time!
Mark Gleichauf, Superintendent
