Dear Hebron Family,
This year only 16 of 135 kindergartners came to school knowing
their letters. We set a goal that 80% of our kindergarteners would know
all their letters by December 20. Hebron is so excited that currently 87%
or our kindergartners know all their letters!
Our next goal is for all our students to know their grade level
sight words by March 20. Please have them practice at home. Those
who meet the goal of knowing all but a couple of their grade level sight words
will participate in our Sight Word Super Hero Celebration!
Working on letter identification and sight words will help with
reading, but so will reading at home. It is important to have your
student read to you at least 20 minutes a day. We want all our Hebron
students to be reading at grade level by the end of the school year!
As winter continues, we try to get our students outside as much as
possible. Remember, students will go outside if it is above 32 degrees, so make
sure to send students to school in appropriate clothing.
As a reminder, when dropping of students it is important to drop
them off at the parent pick up area. Please do not go clear to the stop
sign as this is causing a lot of congestion. Also, if parents want to
walk their child to the door, they need to park in the parking lot and walk
them down the sidewalk. Parking in the drop off area and getting out to
walk students in is also causing some backups. Thanks!
I look forward to another wonderful 9 weeks with our students.
