Thank you for making the first quarter of the school year go so well. It is exciting to see students engaged in their reading, writing and math! Family night at Van Buran was a lot of fun! We exceeded our goal with our Pennies for Patients campaign! We had a great turnout for parent teacher conferences. Students have been doing a great job participating in our Accelerated Reader Celebrations and our monthly design challenges. Keep it up!
Has your child told you about “brag tags”? Students can earn brag tags for a variety of positive accomplishments. Ask them about it!
Remember, it is important to be reading or having your child read to you for 20 minutes a night. Also, please work with your child on learning their grade level sight words! Your support in practicing sight words and reading daily helps your child tremendously at school.
Coming up this nine weeks: Kindergartners should know all their letters by December 20. Also, we will be honoring our Veteran’s with a luncheon on November 11 and our whole school will be going to Seusical the Musical December 11. We will also have our annual PTO Holiday celebration on December 20.
Lastly, as it gets chillier outside, please make sure your child has a coat for outdoor recess.
Also, be mindful that every minute counts for your child to be at school. Attendance has a tremendous impact on student achievement.
