WELCOME TO THE TREASURER'S OFFICE DEPARTMENT!
The Lakewood Local School District received a "AA" bond rating in the summer of 2016 which resulted in a lower interest rate on the refunding of the District bond debt. The District saved $895,277 in interest on the refunding of the bonds. This savings is on the bond debt, so the District general fund is not impacted. The bond debt millage is a separate tax collection. The amount of the millage needed to repay our debt over the remaining 10 years will be less since our payments are less. The higher bond rating and lower tax millage for debt repayment is all Good news for Lakewood.

The Lakewood Local School District has a budget of $25 million. The Board of Education and Administration considers financial accountability and resource planning one of the most significant roles of the Treasurer's Office. Reporting financial results is just one aspect of school finance. Much of the day to day operations of schools start a year or more in advance of a school year with resource allocation and planning which folds into budgeting not only short term but long term.
